Fusion® Residential Treatment

November 2, 2017

A Zoeller Fusion® Series ZF-600 treatment unit was installed at a newly constructed 4-bedroom home in Northern Kentucky. Not long after installation, beneficial colonies of bacteria developing in the Fusion® were threatened when contractors emptied paint waste from their buckets and brushes into the treatment unit. *Photo above shows the paint-contaminated Fusion® system before complete successful cleaning. As a result, the Fusion’s internal components and filter media were coated with antimicrobial paint sludge. The system was restored to its original condition after a simple pump-out and rinse. After the Fusion® was cleaned, the effluent CBOD was 6 mg/L and TSS was 1 mg/L, demonstrating the tremendous resiliency of this treatment unit.
